A Downtown Jewel
Rogers Jewelers tradition of excellence began in 1948 when the original
store was founded by Harold and Inez Rogers. Following a move from Evart
in 1969, the store has been a fixture in downtown Big Rapids ever since. The
store was later purchased by Rogers’ daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and
Bill Pritchard, who hired the newest owner of the store at the age of 15.
Seems his mother told him to get a job if he wanted a car and he’s been at
the store ever since.
“Today, you can find the same tradition of excellence at Rogers Jewelers,”
said John Miedema, who purchased the store from the Pritchards in 2007.
John holds certification from the Gemological Institute of America in Fine
Stone Setting and also is the store’s goldsmith. John especially enjoys
helping young couples find that special engagement ring as they begin their
lives together.
Along with beautiful jewelry, Rogers also has a large selection of watches
and clocks and offers expert repair service. John and his staff recently
re-set the store’s interior to better serve their customers.
