Spring:

Spring is alive in Mecosta County!  Everything is fresh and new as the air is filled with scents of trees budding, flowers popping and life renewing itself after winter’s slumber. The sky is bright blue and the grass is beginning to take on that beautiful green glow that only is seen in spring.  As Mother Nature comes alive with the warmer weather so do the festivities here in Mecosta County.  Around nearly every corner you can hear the sounds of music with numerous free concerts throughout our great community.  The fish are jumping, so get out and take advantage of Michigan’s Free fishing weekend in June at the annual Catch-A-Fish, Grant-A-Wish fishing tournament benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation .

Summertime means swinging high, counting clouds as they drift by, sipping lemonade with ice; summertime is oh, so nice.  Summertime is also filled to the brim with festivals, parades and endless activities and events for the entire family.  Enjoy over 100 lakes right here in Mecosta County not to mention numerous streams, creeks and rivers.  Did you know that Big Rapids is known as the tubing capital of Michigan? If you wonder why, just look out at any section of the mighty Muskegon River during the summer and you will see for yourself.

You will need all of your crayons to copy the colors of fall in Mecosta County!  Get ready for Mecosta County to slowly explode in a frenzy of color for its annual blaze of glory. When autumn arrives, there’s no better place to see all of these dynamic colors than along our highways and country roads. Put a new twist on color touring while saving on that tank of gas as well.  Take a relaxing trip down the majestic Muskegon River by either canoe or kayak.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!  Outdoor enthusiasts love to get out and enjoy winter in Mecosta County!  What better way to experience winter’s true beauty than an exhilarating snow-mobile ride along the White Pine Trail.  Experience the frosty air invigorating your spirits as you whisk along the Big Rapids Riverwalk either cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Not only are these activities exhilarating exercise but great fun as well. Would you like to take in the great outdoors with a little less effort?  Experience a relaxing horse drawn sleigh ride through beautiful country side while sipping hot chocolate under a large woolen blanket.
